About Neutersol
The Food and Drug Administration (www.fda.gov/bbs)
has approved the first product, Neutersol,
for non-surgical
sterilization of male puppies. The drug is administered by direct
injection into the testicles. Unlike a surgical procedure, this
injection doesn't require the use of general anesthesia, though
sedation is recommended to prevent the dog from moving during
injection. Neutersol may not prevent diseases associated with
male hormones, and it may not eliminate male behaviors, such
as roaming, marking or aggression. Veterinarians expect the
fee to be about the same for the injection as for a surgical
neutering.
